Preview of Google Clips

GoogleClips

It is important to understand a few things about Google Clips though this Google Clips review. One thing you should understand is to not use the clip on the back. Even though it is called Google Clips and has a clip on back does not mean it is a good idea to clip it.

The next thing to understand, this is not meant to use and an action camera. If you are looking for an action camera refer to the numerous brands that make them. It is also lacking as a security camera.

What Google Clips is is a smart camera, as per Google themselves. It combines ML and AI to capture little clips in your life that it believes are relevant and might otherwise be difficult to capture with a camera or smartphone. The clips stay on the device until you decide to import them to another device.

Google, Facebook Make Changes In Effort To Ban Fake News Sites

Faking_News_logo

Fake news sites dot the landscape on platforms like Facebook and Google. Unfortunately, such sites play a dangerous game of misinformation. They've even proved lucrative for the perpetrators. Facebook and Google recently took efforts to ban fake news sites, though. With these efforts, perhaps the flood of fake news will lessen in a noticeable way.

On social media, fake news rose to popularity with the US election more so than ever before. Such sites found their way into Google search results and Google News. This type of news spreads inaccurate information on purpose rather than pushing a particular opinion or belief.

Google's policies now state that sites cannot misstate or misrepresent information. If a site breaks the policy, then it could lose Google AdSense privileges. Of course, fake news sites depend upon Google AdSense revenue in order to turn a profit from misinformation.

Google Instant Apps

InstantLoading

Google has released a new feature that allows smart phone users the ability to work with Apps without installing them, its called Google Instant App. Users can click on a link and the phone App will be ready to use almost instantly. So if someone you know has an App installed that they want you to take a look at, but you don’t have the App yourself, click on a link and that the App page is available. Like the way to Internet used to work before everything became App based.

The new feature takes an App and breaks it into smaller parts called Atoms that perform just some features of the larger App. Thus the Atom opens quickly because it is very small in comparison to the complete App, and it performs just like the App because it is an actual piece of it. The links can be passed around and opened in Google Play.

Google And Other Tech Giants Disclose US Surveillance Requests

Edward Snowden's revelations about the extent of NSA snooping activities led to a strong clamor for greater transparency. The giants of Silicon Valley have had to cooperate with the government whenever there was a request for data but now they are emboldened to push back. They demand clearer guidelines on what can constitutes a legal request. They also want to be able to reveal the exact number of US surveillance requests, their nature, and the scope of their effects on users.

In a landmark deal, the companies and the government agreed on a compromise solution in which the public may be informed of information requests but only under layers of obstruction.
The figures cannot be given in exact form but rather in a range that is narrowed down to the nearest thousands. The kinds of data being asked cannot be revealed. There will also have to be a significant delay between the sending of the requests and the publishing of these quantities. Right now, this stands at six months.

Mobile Chromecast Mirroring On The Way?

One of the best features of Google's Chromecast device is the fact that it allows mirroring from computers. In an increasingly mobile world, though, it has become incredibly frustrating to note that Google has not yet opened up the same type of functionality to most smart phones. This unfortunate choice has led Chromecast to cede most of its potential market share to the better-known and better-placed Apple TV, though changes may be coming soon. In fact, some of the code in the Android 4.4.1 update suggests that Google may soon offer support for Chromecast mirroring in all Android devices - a potentially huge move for the search engine giant.
