Synovate Releases Canadian Technology Dependency Details
A global study of 8,600 individuals in 11 markets by Synovate in December found that 80% of Canadians could not go without Internet connectivity for any period of time. The Internet was considered more popular than television in the study. The study was conducting to assist advertisers in finding the best media and time slots to reach potential customers.
Social media websites like Facebook and the availability of the web on mobile devices were the main reasons for the increased importance. Local and individual marketing is become more prevalent as reaching wider audiences is now something of the past. Print media continues to show poorly in surveys and studies. 33 percent of Canadians can now live without print media with many feeling that it is an optional item they find enjoyable but can live without.
