Typically, entrepreneurs are thought to belong to the older crowd. It makes sense-- more experience, more time to understand the industry and how it works, more training, more resources and everything else. Younger people looking to get into the business world are typically seen as too inexperienced, too under motivated, and too inept to dip their toes into the pool of entrepreneurship. In spite of this, today's corporate America is seeing a bumper crop of younger men and women in business who are taking their industries by force with wildly successful self-made businesses. Shockingly, some of them have yet to reach the age of 30! With all of the backlash resulting from "Millenials" starting to enter the workforce, you would think that one would be hard-pressed to find anyone in the below-30 crowd that has found success at an early age. However, to the surprise of many, young entrepreneurs like Arash Ferdowski, Soraya Darabi, and Matt Mickiewicz are creating businesses that are raking in millions.

The real estate boom and bust that set the stage for one of the worst recessions ever endured by the United States did not exclude the great state of Texas. The draughts and fires of 20ll added to the woes. RepariMyCreditNow.com has been successful with a number residents of Plano Texas. They will prove to be just as successful in helping other Texans that are just get back on track after some struggles.

Copyright remains a hot-button issue in information technology, internet theory, and pop culture, and it will for some time to come.

The overreaching anti-infringement acts SOPA and PIPA were defeated in large part by the collective outcry of private citizens, but the impulses that were driving the legislation remain as strong and far-reaching as ever, and they will give rise to more such efforts.

This isn’t just a conflict between law enforcement and a system that enables theft.  If the associated copyright issues were limited to straightforward theft of intellectual property like films and songs, there would be relatively little controversy. Then the entire subject would indeed be just a question of where to draw the line on enforcement so as to do no harm to the structure and freedom of the internet.

Every business owner is required to make important decisions on a regular basis. Whilst day to day choices may not cause much of a stir, choices outside of this comfort zone can be trickier. The whole point of starting your own business is to succeed on your own terms and that means you need systems which offer you control.

As e-commerce and internet trading has become more commonplace, the virtual side of your business is now just as important as the physical side – if not more so. Unfortunately, not all small businesses are as familiar with these systems as others and that makes it harder to know what choice is best.

The success – and subsequent bursting – of the dotcom bubble is well-documented. A business bubble such as that is created when speculative investors believe in an over-hyped product that simply cannot deliver what its proponents say it will. Rather than steady, sustainable commercial growth which supports the long term, it can lead to business failure and bankruptcy. That is then followed by a market shake-down in which only the strongest survive: hence the domination of the big dotcom players post-bubble, such as Google and Amazon.

Whether you’re unemployed and struggling to find work or looking for new opportunities, many women could benefit from looking beyond traditionally “female” jobs and learning a trade.

UK unemployment levels are high, and set to get higher as we move through 2012. Many of the standard jobs for women – nurse, teacher – are being hit by public sector job cuts and no longer seem like a safe option. Where then should unemployed women – or those looking for a change of pace – look for work? Many may actually benefit from looking beyond traditionally “female” jobs and learning a trade.

What It Is

First and foremost, let's talk about what exactly online media entails. Online media is any kind of digital informational resource that includes photos, videos and music, all of which are distributed over the Internet.

What It Does

Blackberry would do best to forget the year that 2011 was. Only if it could manage to re-write history and re-define new rules to come off its own inertia would that be made possible. For a technology giant that boasted of 'Corporate Communication' and total control of the business mobility, 2011 was a year full of hard facts and reckoning that would nimble Blackberry fans. Let us review the major points of interest that marked a turbulent year for Blackberry's owner -Research in Motion.

Erosion of market capitalization - For a start, we know that the parent company of Blackberry, Research in Motion is a publically listed and traded firm. And, the last few years have seen an erosion of RIM's market capitalization as if investors have decided to shun the product and the brand associated with RIM. How else could anyone explain a decline of RIM's share price from the levels of $150 to $15 as of December, 2011? This is a 90% decline in its share value and a complete decimation of investors' faith in the ability of the company to cut a new corner.

Black Friday receives a great deal of press as the busiest shopping day of the year, but as consumers are increasingly turning to online retail stores to fill their holiday wish lists, Cyber Monday is rapidly becoming a significant presence in retail sales. Online sales for Cyber Monday in 2011 broke the $1 billion dollar record for the second year in a row, showing a 22% increase in sales from the time of its inception.

Cyber Monday was originally coined in 2005 by Shop.org, the digital division of The National Retail Federation, which is the world’s largest association of retail traders. The association includes many different kinds of retailers, from department stores to chain restaurants and grocers that all offer a variety of savings from discounts to coupons through the Shop.org portal.

Black Friday never fails to make headlines in the following morning’s newspapers—shoppers scramble for hot deals, hoodlums occasionally resort to violence to get an unfair advantage, and the status of an entire economic system is given a 4 AM gut check as bleary-eyed analysts cull statistics from across the board.

On a national scale, Black Friday sales were higher this year than the last, with Shopper Track reporting that Black Friday sales were 6.6% higher than last year. In addition, the National Retail Federation estimates that the average shopper spent $400 dollars during this national event. Between 2008 and 2009, Black Friday sales only increased by 0.3%, and so this year’s figures may indicate a broad-scale improvement in the economy.

The most influential of these Occupy demonstrations occurred in New York City during the month of September, when more than 1,000 protestors marched through the Wall Street district to demand greater social and economic equality. This group, calling themselves the “99%,” wished to make the public aware of the growing disparity between the tiny minority of the wealthy elite and the economically-depressed majority. Since this event, tens of thousands have been forming their own Occupy movements in cities throughout the world.

Computers, despite their many useful and entertaining applications, occasionally run into problems. Components can break or malfunction through improper maintenance, mechanical error or simply aging. The average desktop PC has an operational lifespan of two to five years. When this happens to the computer system as an integrated unit the user faces the question of whether to upgrade or replace his computer. Both choices have much to recommend them but the answer ultimately depends on the circumstances surrounding the machine. The user must look at the ups and downs of each option before committing time and money to either one.

Let’s start discussing your small business marketing plan by taking a look at the definition of marketing itself. Marketing covers more than just advertising, which is a concept many small business owners may not understand. The most important function of marketing, arguably, is to create a unique selling proposition to the buyer, thereby making them less able to consider other options. Marketing is just as much about what you sell, as how you go about selling it.

With the recent hacking of high profile sites like those belonging to the U.S. Senate and Sony, many are confused as to who, exactly, is behind the recent rash of attacks. While the notorious hacking group Anonymous was first implicated, it appears a new group of miscreants has arisen to steal headlines.

Going by the name “LulzSec,” this new group seems to take their mission quite seriously, even though they claim to do it only for the “lulz,” or laughs. The name LulzSec is short for Lulz Security and the group features a logo of a caricature wearing a monocle and top hat, while holding a glass of wine. While the group has been targeting high-profile victims, they seem to take a caviar and lighthearted attitude regarding their exploits. They often poke fun at the vulnerabilities they employ to gain access to sites and tend to leave humorous messages for their victims. Frequently, these messages are accompanied by a crude ASCII portrait of a boat, and their website plays the theme from the television series “The Love Boat.” While the identity of group members is not known, the magnitude of the high-profile attacks seems to confirm that the group is comprised of skilled and knowledgeable individuals.

The Volkswagen Beetle has been through several major changes throughout its long life. It started out as the Volkswagen Type 1, an economy car that was produced from 1938 to 2003. Over 21 million cars of this type were manufactured during this time period. Although the exterior appearance of the Type 1 Beetle didn’t change that much over the decades, there were thousands of smaller changes undetectable to the average consumer.

The timeless Type 1 Beetle came to an end however in 1998, when the Volkswagen New Beetle was introduced. The exterior of the car is heavily inspired by the original Beetle, but the engine and internal workings are different, with major changes like having the engine in the front and having luggage storage in the back of the car. But the newest Beetle didn’t last long – Volkswagen announced in 2010 that they were ceasing production of the New Beetle in 2011 and introducing a brand new version of the Volkswagen.

Cellphones are great for keeping the lines of communication between you and your business clients but its application has outgrown its humble beginnings as mere tool for communication to an invaluable partner in business transactions.

yellow-pages-

With the prevalence of internet searching and online mapping for businesses, the future of yellow book seems weak. On the other hand, there are steps that the publishers can take to maintain clients and generate revenue from the printed address books.

The obvious option is for the yellow pages publishers to develop online versions, if not fully go digital. Most have already gone down this path, with excellent mobile applications for searching for local addresses and contacts. The only disadvantage of this option is that the income generated from the online pages is considerably less than what could be earned from traditional printed versions.

CRM System

Customer Relationship Management is a way to manage a company’s interactions with its customers, consumers and clients. The objective of CRM is to bring together all possible customer information from a range of sources, giving an accurate, real time account of any given customer. CRM allows a company to make more informed decisions on their business, whilst also increasing levels of customer satisfaction and loyalty. CRM enables businesses to customize marketing messages to larger target audiences on the basis of the customer's expected response and the customer's value to the firm. By following the CRM model, firms can reduce overall marketing costs, increase customer response rates, and, probably most importantly, increase overall customer and firm profitability.

Once again, Apple Chief Executive Steve Jobs is taking medical leave for the third time since 2004 and once again, the company's stock price is unsteady as Jobs refuses to be forthcoming about the details of his condition.  It is probably connected to the rare form of cancer called a pancreatic islet cell neuroendocrine tumor that Jobs has suffered from previously.  Jobs had such a tumor removed in 2004 and said afterwards all the cancer was gone, and he did not require chemotherapy or radiation treatment.

SAAS and Cloud Computing

What is it?

Cloud computing is the progression of several  technologies that together have vastly altered the landscape of typical medium and large organizational infrastructure, in much a similar way the www (World Wide Web) altered the way we communicate, do business and so many more aspects of day to day life, in so little time yet more than a decade ago. The clouds is essentially built upon the initial technologies and under pinning technologies behind the WWW, and have simply been made accessible publicly, the theory has been put into practice through the amalgamation of converged technologies.

print advertising

Though many have predicted a paperless future void of magazines and newspapers, this is certainly not the case.  You can still expect a thick issue of Vogue every September and print is far from dead.  Print advertising will continue to serve advertisers with its prestige and print will continue to thrive.  That said, the print advertising landscape is certainly changing.

 Apples and Oranges

Yahoo Layoffs

What’s the next strategy if you are Silicon Valley’s most infamous, yet most persistent, ‘also-ran’?  Just having moved its paid ads over to Bing, and with early reports that it will layoff roughly 5 percent of its workforce (Merry Christmas!) as early as December 14, it seems that Yahoo! is all set to undergo yet another restructuring.

Reuters reports that, Yahoo “plans to lay off more than 600 employees as early as Tuesday,” December 14. Most of these cuts will reportedly be in Yahoo’s product group. Reuters notes that, “(t)he layoffs come two years into Chief Executive Carol Bartz's tenure, as Yahoo works to grow its revenue amid tough competition from Google Inc and Facebook.”

WikiLeaks

Concerted hacking efforts by so-called “cyberanarchists” (according to the New York Times) were launched against several big business web sites that provide the basic infrastructure for online marketing and sales. Co-ordinated “cyberattacks” were made on Mastercard, PayPal and Amazon.com, who cut off services to Wikileaks following the widespread dissemination of hither-to top secret U.S. military and diplomatic communications through Wikileaks, and the recent arrest in Britain of its founder, Julian Assange, to face extradition for “questioning” on sex charges in Sweden.

iPad Reading

And, so, the online media wars continue.  .  .  . Just as “Video Killed the Radio Star” in the ‘80s, so “the Internet Killed Print Media” in the 00’s. Or, so it seems. Yet media mogul, Rupert Murdoch, has unveiled his vision of an apps-only news source which he thinks will challenge this trend and cause readers to turn to their ‘readers’ for their daily dose of news, rather than to online news aggregators like Google News and Yahoo! News.

Cisco 7936 IP Conference Station

Managing a team of staff who work in a variety of locations can seem a daunting task but with the right management, remote teams can be as productive or even more so than teams working alongside each other.

The greatest challenge is believing in your staff and trusting them to deliver. It is essential to have a very open two way channeled approach to communication. This is easily achieved via conference calls. These can be between the manager and a particular team member or even involving the entire team at the same time. This has a multitude of benefits as discussed later on.

Intellectual Property Rights

The service industry is a tricky landscape, due to the fact that, often times, no tangible property is transferred back and forth.  Sure, you may purchase a software program that comes on a disk, but in reality, you are merely purchasing the right to use that program, not the rights to the program itself.  The service industry is a world dominated by intellectual property, and protecting yours should be your utmost goal.

make the time

Seven Tips to Make the Time to Build Your Business

1) Clearly layout on paper what is most important for your business by what makes the most money for your business. Then focus on those items over other items that might take more time but do not produce results. This is the 80/20 rule that we have all heard about.

2) With the remaining items that did not make the top 20% most important items, you will have to decide if you should minimize the times, delegate the items, or delete them all together. If you determine that a task is important but not worth the time that you spend on it, look for outsourcing services that can handle the task at a reduced wage.

Start a Business

Three Lessons Learned Starting a Business

Lesson One: The Power of Your Peer Group

During his lifetime, Andrew Carnegie (the world's wealthiest person during his lifetime) said, "No man is smart enough to project his influences very far into the world without the friendly cooperation of other men. Bring this thought home in every way you can for it is sufficient unto itself to open the door to success in the higher brackets of individual achievement."

Hidden in Carnegie's words and example is the real edge that allows some people to out-earn others by a factor of 10,000 to 1. When you have the right peer group around you... supporting you... encouraging you... challenging you... inspiring you... and holding you accountable... then anything becomes possible. And what's more—succeeding financially becomes easy.

There is no way that LeBron James made use of a decision engine when he was in the midst of making The Decision but that did not stop Microsoft’s Bing from getting deeply involved in the announcement.
