Typically, entrepreneurs are thought to belong to the older crowd. It makes sense-- more experience, more time to understand the industry and how it works, more training, more resources and everything else. Younger people looking to get into the business world are typically seen as too inexperienced, too under motivated, and too inept to dip their toes into the pool of entrepreneurship. In spite of this, today's corporate America is seeing a bumper crop of younger men and women in business who are taking their industries by force with wildly successful self-made businesses. Shockingly, some of them have yet to reach the age of 30! With all of the backlash resulting from "Millenials" starting to enter the workforce, you would think that one would be hard-pressed to find anyone in the below-30 crowd that has found success at an early age. However, to the surprise of many, young entrepreneurs like Arash Ferdowski, Soraya Darabi, and Matt Mickiewicz are creating businesses that are raking in millions.

The more a company or organization grows, the more data it is likely to amass. This is a good thing, as it is an indication of progress and the capacity for future growth and development. However, without a custom-tailored way to store data, it can be difficult to keep growing without problems arising.

There are various ways to store vast amounts of data, each with its own set of strengths and weaknesses. A service provider such as LSI, which specializes in data storage and processing, is likely to have a data storage solution that is right for your organization or company’s needs. But proper research and understanding of storage types and capacities is essential before making a decision.

It might be easy to overlook something like data storage, but if the proper attention and care isn’t paid, your company or organization’s very existence and ability to do business could be threatened. Backing up and storing data in a safe and secure way with a tailor-made storage technology solution is essential to future security and success.

Copyright remains a hot-button issue in information technology, internet theory, and pop culture, and it will for some time to come.

The overreaching anti-infringement acts SOPA and PIPA were defeated in large part by the collective outcry of private citizens, but the impulses that were driving the legislation remain as strong and far-reaching as ever, and they will give rise to more such efforts.

This isn’t just a conflict between law enforcement and a system that enables theft.  If the associated copyright issues were limited to straightforward theft of intellectual property like films and songs, there would be relatively little controversy. Then the entire subject would indeed be just a question of where to draw the line on enforcement so as to do no harm to the structure and freedom of the internet.

Vimeo Integration is now rolled out on Pinterest for video pinning pleasure by many users.

Pinterest is not only just for pictures now, today the company said that vimeo videos are now available to pin on the site. That is a very big attention grabber for users. This is the second video integration that is now available on this site. In August 2011 YouTube videos were allowed on the site and now you are able to use both. This is now targeted for a more design-conscious and artsy side. It will be interesting to see how video growth is going to make Pinterest move forward.

Everyone should already know just how important social sites are when it comes to finding new ideas for the home. Following people on the two largest sites, Facebook and Twitter can lead to many great ideas and designs that you may never have found through the old methods of searching through catalogs or even looking through your favorite home design websites. Although the top two social networking sites are great for getting new ideas, there’s a new arrival on the scene that is quickly becoming the go-to place for home improvement and all related living topics. I’m talking of course about Pinterest, which while it is only a couple of years old is already the number three ranked social networking site in the world, and it’s not hard to see why.

The first thing you should never do is trust the review or comment by someone listed on the pages of the site that is being reviewed. That would make sense as it is never going to be that the site will allow anyone who has anything negative to say, to be published on their site. So first rule, is look for independent reviews.

In order to remain competitive in business, companies must be ahead of the curve. The following 4 steps should be taken immediately to ensure that your company is ready for net neutrality.

What’s not to love about crowdsourcing? It’s fast, easy, and cheap. Perfect for a small business, right? Well, when you take a closer look, the pros of crowdsourcing are also the potential cons of it. Fast, easy, and cheap doesn’t always translate into a job well done. While many people tote crowdsourcing as a modern, innovative way to accomplish tasks, others find that it doesn’t always produce the results they were hoping for. Since your small business is your life, it’s important to carefully consider crowdsourcing before you give it a shot. Here are some of the potential disadvantages to it that you should keep in mind.

Pinterest is the latest social media platform to hit the net. Not as big a heavyweight as Facebook giant and Twitter, the site is rapidly gaining traction and attention from marketing experts and businesses alike.

A virtual bulletin board that allows users to create different collages of their interests, individuals are becoming addicted to pinning and re-pinning images, links and objects that have caught their eye. From books to techno gadgets and events, Pinterest is all about getting people to share creative tips and designs with each other within their chosen niches.

For businesses that have drawn up a marketing plan centered on the use of social media tools, there is serious potential for Pinterest to drive sales for company owners. Product and service pins and repins will provide major clout in terms of customer referrals and website traffic.

The success – and subsequent bursting – of the dotcom bubble is well-documented. A business bubble such as that is created when speculative investors believe in an over-hyped product that simply cannot deliver what its proponents say it will. Rather than steady, sustainable commercial growth which supports the long term, it can lead to business failure and bankruptcy. That is then followed by a market shake-down in which only the strongest survive: hence the domination of the big dotcom players post-bubble, such as Google and Amazon.

The most influential of these Occupy demonstrations occurred in New York City during the month of September, when more than 1,000 protestors marched through the Wall Street district to demand greater social and economic equality. This group, calling themselves the “99%,” wished to make the public aware of the growing disparity between the tiny minority of the wealthy elite and the economically-depressed majority. Since this event, tens of thousands have been forming their own Occupy movements in cities throughout the world.

Neon orange alongside stark green. Bubbly lilac font on dead-pink walls. Overly stretched lines in contrast with playfully curved Letraset prints. Childlike hippie flowers and strict Saul Bass’ title sequences. Those were the “in” designs during my teen years--the happy days of the good ol’ 1970’s.

Loud and glaring and often gaudy, designs that are reminiscent of the 1970s are not completely gone. Buildings, kiosks, subways and other forms of transportation, structures, posters, ads--all these continue to sport a lot of 70’s-inspired design. If there’s anything that appears to be missing, it’s the SPIRIT. The design spirit that was palpable back in the day seems to have disappeared completely.

When it comes to search engine optimization, most of us want to see results. But we don’t want to be waiting for too long. We want to see results soon!

The problem is that massive leaps in search engine positioning don’t tend to happen in a matter of days. I’m not saying that it’s impossible, but it’s certainly unlikely, that you’ll see a website rising in this way.

Under normal conditions, a site will tend to rise in a gradual manner. There may even be occasions when it slips down the rankings, before making a further upwards movement. This can be frustrating, particularly if you’re relying on the optimization work to generate much-needed income for your business.

U.S. politicians are increasingly discovering the benefits - and perils - of social media. While Anthony Weiner's Twitter scandal - or Joe Walsh's YouTube video - might be the most publicized examples of social media backfiring, far less sordid uses of social media by politicians have nonetheless demonstrated the limitations of a public figure's ability to control his or her online image.

As more and more politicians have begun creating Facebook and Twitter pages to communicate with their constituents, a growing number of those constituents have been communicating in return and, quite often, they aren't happy. Negative political talk back seemed to hit a fever pitch during New York's recent debates in the state Senate over the state's legalization of gay marriage.

Facebook is arguably the number one social networking site on the Internet. From personal to business to commercial pages, Facebook claims over 700,000 users around the globe. But when you're looking for a job, Facebook is the last social network in which you should focus your job hunt. You stand a better chance of finding gainful employment off a job search engine than you do off Facebook, and those odds aren't great.

If Facebook has all those users, and virtually every recruitment and social network expert states just the opposite, why is this advice valid? That's a good question, and the answer is so simple that it's often overlooked: Time. You just can't often afford the time it takes to have reasonable hope of it working for you.

A steady supply of easy recipes with easy to find ingredients, beautifully photographed pictures, and well written descriptions of the foods are sure to entice readers from coming back, aside from the elements mentioned above.

Intimacy, also very crucial aspect, which is quite frankly, often overlooked in most food blogs today. You must always make the reader feel as if you are talking to him in person to build a sense of connection and rapport with your target readers.  Lastly, you must have passion for what you are doing and when in doubt, always keep it simple.

I am not a very big fan of PayPal. I mean, it provides an absolutely necessary service, but for goodness sakes it takes 3% of anything you receive! That being said I am a very big fan of what the co-founder is doing these days. He's paying people not to go to college!

That's right, $100,000 grants not to go to college, but to start a business. He says that college costs too much these days (in fact the class of 2011 is coming out with the highest debt of all time) and he is probably right. Even Harvard students are taking him up on his offer.

A lot of SEO's believe that SEO should not be taught in high school or in college. They believe the market will get flooded very quickly and that they will have tons of 17 and 18 year old kids getting a huge jump start in the SEO world. Although I do not believe that this is a valid reason for them to not teach it in school (everyone deserves to know how the information that comes up when they search for it gets there, and what agendas are at hand) I still do not think they should teach it in school because no one knows exactly how long SEO will actually be around and it is always constantly undergoing changes. That being said, Google’s web spam leader, Matt Cutts, has stated that white hat SEO tactics are actually a good thing and will be around for at least another 5 years to come.

Pretty much every website you go to tries to provide you with a customizable experience. Amazon suggests other items you may be interested in – based somewhat on what others buy but also on what you’ve bought, what sites you’ve visited, any cookies your browser may have, etc.

Facebook takes into consideration which links you click on and which posts you like, and then displays more updates from those friends and fewer updates from other friends. This may be good or bad, depending on whether you want to stay in touch with everyone or you want to just see what you care about most. (Compare this to Twitter, which may suggest users, but leaves it up to you to manage your actual feed.)

Image by Intersection Consulting via Flickr

Social media has been transforming the internet and the way we communicate over the past few years. In the past, communication was limited between people far away, and the internet was reserved mostly for finding information. Finding a job has transformed right along with the onset of social media. Gone are the days when the best way to find a job was through the newspaper alone.

It seems you can't have a conversation about the future of the web without discussing cloud computing applications. Among the many trends involving cloud-based software, cloud backup applications are leading the discussion. Whether you simply want to back up simple documents, or large libraries of multimedia files, cloud back up applications may provide the support you're looking for. Facebook

Who does not, at some point or other in life, get nostalgic about their childhood friendships – that neighborhood kid they played together with in the garden, the kids from school who were regulars for play dates or even the friends they hung around with in college? Looking for these friends and reconnecting would have been impossible if not for social networking websites, like Orkut or Facebook, which is without doubt the most popular social networking websites today.

social networks

Social networks are undeniably a double edged sword, both from an employer and employee perspective. Businesses are increasingly seeing the need to establish some kind of social network presence. Whether or not they know anything beyond the fact they ‘need’ social media is open for debate, but the fact remains: in most businesses, social media usage is welcomed with open arms. With a growing population of smart-phone users, and the increasing availability of iPhone-style apps on cheaper phones and tariffs, social media has become a near-default method of communication for many. Why text or call from your phone when you can freely send a multi-recipient message, perhaps even to more than one platform or just to the world in general?

Rich Skrenta who is also Blekko’s Chief Executive Officer did confirm the move based on the rationale of click/spam results from users, and that these sites will be removed from Blekko’s index completely. This will affect eHow.com, a content farm that is amongst Demand Media most productive websites.

secure email

The recent news of the California hacker that stole nude photos from hacked emails highlights the fact that most people do not consider the importance of that security question that comes up when you go to reset your password. Many people do not give that much thought, but the story of George Bronk should give folks pause.

Yahoo Layoffs

What’s the next strategy if you are Silicon Valley’s most infamous, yet most persistent, ‘also-ran’?  Just having moved its paid ads over to Bing, and with early reports that it will layoff roughly 5 percent of its workforce (Merry Christmas!) as early as December 14, it seems that Yahoo! is all set to undergo yet another restructuring.

Reuters reports that, Yahoo “plans to lay off more than 600 employees as early as Tuesday,” December 14. Most of these cuts will reportedly be in Yahoo’s product group. Reuters notes that, “(t)he layoffs come two years into Chief Executive Carol Bartz's tenure, as Yahoo works to grow its revenue amid tough competition from Google Inc and Facebook.”

The swirl of negative publicity surrounding suddenly infamous ‘Black Hat’ online marketer, Vitaly Borker - whose anti-social online marketing practices and absolute lack of any business ethics were featured in an interesting yet scathing report in The New York Times – seems to have forced Google to tweak its all-important search algorithm. But, as ever, the folks at Google’s MountainView, CA headquarters are being circumspect about the changes to the highly-secret search algorithm that is at the core of Google’s business.
