Rumors and leaked pieces of news are now the basis of the video game industry. Before the release, more or less credible unofficial sources reveal and share information as fast as they can. In the case of Grand Theft Auto 6, however, the rumors began to circulate before the official team announced the next chapter during the last E3.
About the official source
In 2019, any enthusiast thought the game was on its way. In the gaming community, many believed they were lowering everybody's expectations. In this early 2020, Rockstar Games has not yet announced anything official about the next episode of the Grand Theft Auto series.
Not only do we not know a real release date, the setting, the characters, or even the central theme of the next chapter, but we also do not know if this game is actually in development. We can't even assume the existence of the development project.
The latest rumors
The more recent rumors are coming from the popular leaker named gonnaenodaethat. Through several cryptic messages, the leaker wanted to share some information regarding the announcement date of Grand Theft Auto 6. In fact, after those messages, a thread appeared on Reddit to evaluate the actual reliability of the source. Gonnaenodaethat got popularity on the web for having discovered the release date of the PC version of Red Dead Redemption 2 before its announcement.
According to what gonnaenodaethat wrote, a possible release date of the announcement of Grand Theft Auto 6 was 03/20/2020. However, nothing happened. Some Reddit users guessed another date, March 25th. Yet, this was also wrong.
GTA 6 Fans Are FURIOUS That GTA 6's Announcement/Reveal Hasn't Happened Yet...
Meanwhile, in the HQ
Rockstar has recently updated the official domains dedicated to Grand Theft Auto 6. Now, the game page no longer refers to the Rockstar Games website but gives an error. Therefore, players believe firmly that an announcement is imminent and that the Rockstar team is going to complete a dedicated site for GTA 6. We can only discover the truth by being patient.
The new rumors suggested that Grand Theft Auto 6 is not at all close to a release date. We will not be able to test it ourselves on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X until 2021. Yet, these are unofficial and unverifiable rumors. But, a different one dedicated to the gameplay got my attention. It seems that Rockstar has decided to add a GDR mode in GTA 6, taking inspiration from the fan-made servers that enthusiasts enjoyed so much. It is not clear how this could change the feeling of the game, but it would introduce an exciting novelty. It would make the game even more lasting.
Regarding the gameplay, fans seem convinced that they have discovered what the setting of GTA 6 will be, precisely thanks to the online mode of the fifth chapter. Their conclusions point to Vice City (Florida), Chicago, and an area of Mexico.
An Austrian online store put up for sale a pre-order copy of Grand Theft Auto 6 for € 59.99 ($ 65.35). But, that was a marketing strategy to gain visibility. They have already taken off the game from their site after they got traffic and popularity. We don't have a clear idea of how much it will cost in the end.
