A smart way to put items on your grocery list is to scan them while putting them in the trash can.
You might think that the GeniCan concept is pretty lame; however, once you wrap your head around it, you'll realize that it is a stroke of genius. The GeniCan is a scanner that clips to the side of your garbage can. As a result, it makes it convenient to scan items when the empty containers are tossed into the trash. A quick scan automatically adds the item to your new grocery list.
It there is something that can't be scanned, such as fruit, then you can add the item via voice command. The item is then synced and added via a GeniCan app. It is as simple as that.
Although there were a few glitches, we saw a basic GeniCan demo. The IR didn't work properly due to the weird ballroom setting where the demo took place. But then again, most people don't use this type of product in a ballroom. So, things should work out just fine.
Right now, the final GeniCan product version is finished. The first shipment is scheduled to go out the beginning of this year. Luckily, GeniCan should work extremely well in kitchen settings. This is an amazing product, and I would love to learn more about how the voice command function works. However, the company isn't willing to share its secret. But I did learn that the company is working with a third party when it comes to GeniCan's technology.
The preorder version of GeniCan is worth $129, and the final version is worth $149. Considering that the GeniCan scanner isn't doing that much to make everyday life much easier, it is rather pricey. But you do have to admit that it is a wonderful technological invention.
