Vine Video Sharing App Now Available On Android
Vine, a video sharing app that has already won 13 million users on the Apple's App store is now available on Android. Sara Haider, an Android engineer for the company published a post on Vine's blog saying, "We've been looking forward to this day, and we're excited to get the app into your hands." Android users with version 4.0 and higher and 18 MBs of free space will be able to use the app.
If you have used the iOS Vine app, you will be dismayed to notice the absence of frontal camera support, search, Facebook sharing and hashtags. But fret not for the company will be syncing the Android app to the iOS Vine in the coming days, adding exclusive features which are possible only in Android's open source environment. The Android Vine already includes one such exclusive feature- the ability to zoom that is absent from the iOS app.
Till the updates, users will be able to shoot, view, edit and share to twitter 6-second ling looped video clips. Vine for iOS was rolled out back in January and has amassed a staggering 13 million strong following. The Android version, released on 3rd June, 2013 crossed 2500 downloads in its first day.
The response to the Android app has been mixed with the average rating sitting at 3.4. Most drawbacks mentioned by the reviewers are the missing features that Vine has already promised in the near future. Hence, Android Vine's rating is expected to pick up in the next few weeks, after the promised updates are actualized.
