Making headlines around the world this June, the Apple Prism debacle promises to continue garnering controversy. The United States National Security Agency has had a secret project called Prism for an unknown since 2007. This clandestine agency was unheard of until June 2013, when a former CIA worker and NSA contractor blew the whistle on mass electronic surveillance by the company. Edward Snowden is now in hiding but what he has revealed has left the entire world talking.

February 27 sees the introduction of the new business version of Office. Office 365 was recently released, with users paying an affordable $8 for a monthly subscription.

The Home Premium version of Office 365 comes with several useful features and accessories, including 60 minutes of worldwide phone calls through Skype, and the use of Publisher, Access, Excel, Word and Outlook. Subscribers also enjoy 20GB of cloud storage in SkyDrive for the yearly subscription of $99.99.

Microsoft To Retire Windows Live Messenger And Switch To Skype

Technology giant and leader of the desktop operating system market Microsoft has announced that it will soon "retire" its instant messaging tool called Windows Live Messenger and switch to Skype. Microsoft already owns Skype, having bought the company for $8.5 billion about 18 months ago.

The company has announced that it will stop supporting Live Messenger by March 2013, except in China, where it will continue to support the older messenger for some more time. Since it owns Skype, this should be seen as part of Microsoft's strategy to offer a better messaging solution to its users.
