RealtyTrac is now offering renters an alert service if their landlord is about to be foreclosed on and they will subsequently be evicted from there rental, according to a press release today. How strange is it when renters need to worry about their landlords losing their properties? Seems that if the rent is coming in, there shouldn't be an issue. But according to RealtyTrac some landlords are using rents for other purposes than paying their mortgage payments.

Internet Explorer 8 is Good for Developers

In a release about Internet Explorer (IE) 8, Microsoft explores why the new browser will be good for developers. At the recent developers conference, Mix09, Big Softie demonstrated why their new browser provides better performance, easy web development, improved security and more. Some larger Internet properties were on hand to explain how they are using the new browser to create a better experience for users.

New Features

A couple enhancements that Microsoft feels will benefit developers are Accelerators and Web Slices. One Riot testified that users using web slices along with better search functionality visited their site 18% more than previously. ATM Skimming Leads to 1 Billion in Losses for Consumers

In a press release this week by ADT Security Services, the company announced a new security product for ATM operators that will eliminate skimming of customer data and large amounts of theft from the stolen data. Skimming occurs when an electronic device is placed over the debit card reader of an ATM to obtain card information in addition to a small camera to find pin numbers for access. These two pieces of information are transmitted wireless to a criminals laptop where the information is collected and used to withdraw large sums of money at a later time. Over $1 Billion is stolen annually in by this means.

Anti-Skim ATM Security Solution

ADT has brought out their Anti-Skim ATM Security Solution which prevents skimming of ATM data. The solution is adaptable to all models of ATM devices in the United States and Canada. It prevents skimming by detecting any device other than a debit card placed into the card reader and also detects devices placed outside of the card reader. It can trigger a silent alarm to alert authorities if a detection has been made.

Valeo Cameras Installed on new BMW 7 Series

The wave of the future in automotive safety is perfect visibility in all situations according to a recent Valeo press release. Valeo has begun to install 3 camera systems into new BMW 7 Series automobiles. With these camera systems there is a rear camera which provides wide angle images of the terrain behind you car. Distances are enforced on the images with dynamic lines drawn, which change as you begin to move your car in reverse. Ultrasonic sensors also display obstacles that you are approaching long before you need to make adjustments.

Similar cameras and sensors are installed on the front of the car to provide perfect visibility and warnings about oncoming traffic, pedestrians, and bicycles. In future models, five cameras will be used to give a panoramic view of one's surroundings.

Apple Releases New Version of Safari

According to a press release by Apple released today, the latest version of Safari is ready for release. Their public beta of Safari 4 is available for installation on both the Mac on Windows based PCs. This new version is able to run Javascript code close to 4 times faster than the prior version with something Apple calls the Nitro engine.
